It is now 15 months ago I had my amputation and 12 months ago I finished the shitty Chemotherapy. In 2006 they told me I had Plantar Fasciatis, an inflamation in my right foot, I had numerous steroid injections and even an operation called Radio Frequency Ablation. This is where they stick needles in the heel of the foot to deaden the nerves to serve me with less pain. This continued until September 2008. Finally I walked into my foot doctors office on crutches and I told him to do something because I could not stand the pain any longer. The next day I went for an MRI, I knew immediately something was wrong due to the actions of the nurse. There was a tumor 7cm by 12cm in the arch of my foot. The following day my husband and I were on out way to Gainesville to see and Orthopedic Oncologist, I was terrified. They performed a biopsy and while I was drifting in an out of consiousness he told me it looked like Synovial Sarcoma, an extremely rare form of cancer.
I will continue the story tomorrow, a little tired tonight. I can hear Mark playing COD. Goodnight x
Good afternoon. Time to continue the story.
Dr Gibbs told me I would have to have a full body scan before he could determine what treatment method was on course.
My husband and I waited in an irritated silence in the doctors office after the scan, it was possibly the one of the worst moments in my life, not knowing if that shitty disease was encompassed in my body. My poor husband was just as terrified. Dr Gibbs came in and informed me there was no evidence of malignant cells anywhere in my body. Mark let out this very unfamiliar gasp of relief. was going to happen because I had done some research on Synovial Sarcoma. Dr Gibbs said he may be able to cure me of this disease, but it would mean amputating my right leg six inches below my knee and then having some intense chemotherapy to kill any stray malignant cells. I really didn't have many options...life or limb as they say. I remember putting on a brave face and asking them what do they do after they amputate my leg....where does it go....it has been with me for many years, they laughed and said you will do just fine with that sense of humour. What else was there.....sit and wallow in self pity....that was not me. I was determined to do everything they wanted me to, because I was going to win. I have two beautiful kids Laura and Sean, a wonderful husband Mark, my Mum and my brothers and families and I wasn't going to let them suffer.
More Later, or I will just bore the ass of ya.
I also had a preminition of what
